I recently had a speech situation where I was more dysfluent. I am wondering whether this means the beginning of a bad fluency period or is it just a one-off?
My speech might have been worse, because I am entering a bad period and this situation marks the beginning of that period. So there is nothing I can do about this.
Or, maybe it was just a one-off because the situation was especially stressful. Again, there is not much I can do...
Or, maybe this one-off could well lead to a bad period, because I am more fearful of speech situations and I expect to stutter more... So I need to work on re-gaining my confidence with practicing?

I find my stuttering goes in cycles, bad weeks and good weeks, i find it also changes quick why?

I ran a project on arthritis for GlaxoSmithKline a few years ago, part of which involved some research into when the pain was worse. There was a fantastic variety of responses, ranging from cold weather, to hot weather, to taking exercise, to not taking exercise, to drinking, to not drinking, to mornings to evenings and so on. In short, there was no general agreement on when it was worse, but everyone did agree that it was variable and largely unpredictable. Arthritis is probably not affected by emotions to the same degree as stammering, as it is much more 'physical', but the same kind of thing seems to apply. Some thought this was down to 'how you feel on a particular day'. I guess we can all go on being introspective and wondering why, but the fact is that we are not machines. I mean, why does Roger Federer sometimes lose?
I would say it's all a matter of tension levels. A bad speaking experience can push our tension levels up; or else the environment creates more stress. From what I know of stress, it can also be influenced by things such as the weather, subconscious processes, age, bio-rhythms and even the day of the week (Fridays are more relaxing for office workers as the weekend lies ahead!)
When I'm stressed out and stuttering I try to get a good night's sleep, or I work out, take a relaxing hot bath, or do a relaxation exercise.
I find I am either in a good period or a bad period. There is no in between for me. When I am in a good period I am totally fluent. When I am in a bad period I join the worst of the worst and tend to stay there until I do something to pull myself out of that swamp. I gather my "A team" of other PWS like me that I have assembled and we bunker down for a weekend technique booster and that drags me and the others back out of the swamp, resuscitate us and sends us back on my fluent way to varying degrees. I am lucky to be part of such a group but that is what support is all about and we help each other through and have done so for many many years.
Practising would help you to move from a "bad period" to a good one faster... It always amazes me with myself how little practising is necessary to regain a lot more control over my speech and with it confidence...
I tend to notice that certain foods trigger bad speech for me: Foods very high in MSG, Asian fish sauce, certain hard cheeses like Mimolette. I think certain foods can alter your neurotransmitter levels in ways that negatively impact your stuttering.
