At least one courageous clinician

Watch this video blog by Chamonix Olsen, where she refers to her negative experience with SpeechEasy and talks about a research/review article on the device. Note I talked about this article a year ago, and as you can imagine, it is nowhere found on the Speech Easy website. I congratulate Chamonix for making clear statements (untainted by the bla bla bla consensus talk and I-have-to-be-careful-not-to-hurt-someone's-feelings approach) in contrast to many (but not all) of her colleagues that are too coward to speak out their true mind clearly and publicly or make any controversial statement or just too lazy or not qualified enough to actually read the research articles in detail. I just hope she will not start her own blog... that would be too much competition. The next thing she should talk about is the Lidcombe treatment approach.. ;-)

(Thx to Ora for the tip)

Note the AIS is competing against the Speech Easy. Is the AIS a distributor of the Speech Easy...probably not.

Many SLPs are distributors....don't know why??

Chris is correct. While I personally agree with Chamonix's views, AIS and Speecheasy are both $5000 treatment options. I am sure many are looking to do one or the other.

Chris is right, many SLPs are distributors. I would be interesting in knowing what percentage of the purchase price these SLPs receive.

Tom, can you find out or ask or confront them (these greedy need to feed themselves SLPs, bs fluency specialist)???

For New Readers and fans of this Blog.

Here is some Info on Tom Weidig, back in 2006.

Tom Weidig holds a Master of Science degree in Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London. His PhD thesis at the Centre for Particle Theory, University of Durham, was on 'Classical and Quantum Aspects of Solitons'.

He was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Manchester and a visiting researcher at Trinity College, University of Cambridge. Leaving physics research behind, he since worked as a risk analyst in derivatives for Bear Stearns in London and is now developing a risk model for venture capital funds at the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg. Tom WAS Chair of British Stammering Association's Research Committee

What's wrong with the Lidcombe treatment approach?

We don't distribute the speecheasy at AIS. In my videoblog I state what I've heard from the majority of my clients and I suggest those interested look at the research for the facts, not just opinion. As I shared in my videoblog, I have a bias view seeing hundreds of clients that are seeking out MORE help. I have the best job in the world, the privilege to work with people who stutter is a gift.....I assume the vast majority of SLPs are not in it for the money....it's not exactly a money field. Lidcombe: Tom I was Lidcombe trained and of course have my opinion on treatment approaches. I will post soon on our site regarding Lidcombe. :)

Thanks Chamonix for speaking the truth. Speach Easy is not a cure. There is no cure, there is only behavior modification.
