Judy Kuster's International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD) Conference is open until October 22nd, 2011. It's the 14th conference that she has organized and there are always some interesting articles: people who stutter and clinicians sharing their experience. Usually, I get an email asking to publicize the event, but not this year maybe my blog has ceased to be important...

Check out Drayna's summary of genetics results. I plan to ask a few questions.

You can leave questions for the panel of experts in Office Hours.

Have a look at the conference. She does a great job to get people to write and debate. And you get a feeling of how the Internet web pages looked fifteen years ago! ;-)

Llease make sure to update us on the answers you'll recieve to your questions on the genetics results! I'm very interested in research on genetics in stuttering. I myself have Tourette's syndrome and I stutter too. Since Tourette's and developmental stuttering are most likely pathogenetically related, my stutter is viewed as 'complex vocal tic', though I, like many other Touretters mark all the boxes for a developmental stuttering diagnosis too. For more info on the link between developmental stuttering and Tourette's syndrome, please visit my blog. http://gillesdelatourettesyndrome.blogspot.com/

Ouch, passive-aggressive much? ;-)
We didn't get an email either but after working hard on 13 previous Conferences perhaps Judith is entitled to expect that we kind of now when it's about to start!
It's FREE and ACCESSIBLE to everyone to go and check for themselves!

It is not related what you are discussing here but i need to get your opinion about a stuttering program called loggita. Its a program that uses completely different method to cure stuttering. Its a 30 day programme, the first fifteen days you dont talk at all, they give you a training CD to speak slowly, they make you read some sentences on CD with a very slow speech. After 15 days you can speak but with the same rate on CD. Then you start to increase your rate until it sounds normal, After thirty days, for about 6 months you do reading practices for about 6 months. I have joined this program 6 years ago, for some reason i had to quit after 15 days. Whats bothering me now is that i see some video on youtube which people claim to be cured. I always looked these kind of programs with suspicious but the method they use seems logical to me now. They try to implement you a new speech pattern by not letting you speak with the way you talk before. I dont know i just need your opinion on that. this may be the way to cure core stuttering ( the stuttering you learn in your childhood )
